Participation in Community Events by the Putnam Chorale Ensemble The Ensemble is a group of singers whose outreach is dedicated to bringing music to area nursing homes, hospitals, and community events. Anyone may join but there is some extra rehearsal time involved. Events and locations in the local community where the ensemble has performed are: Old Southeast Church - Summer Sing, Vocal Arts Workshop and Summer Performance Putnam Nursing Home - Spring/Holiday selections, old favorites The Plaza at Clover Lake - Spring/Holiday selections, old favorites Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center - Spring/Holiday selections, old favorites Putnam Hospital Center - seasonal music Carmel Hamlet Civic Association - Christmas Tree Lighting Carmel Hamlet Civic Association - Menorah Lighting Village of Brewster - Christmas Caroling Town of Patterson - Special town event Lake Carmel - Earth Day Celebration Mahopac Falls Fourth of July Celebration - patriotic selections Putnam County Park Civil War Reenactment - Civil War music Chuang Yen Monastery in Kent - Multicultural Millennium Celebration Mahopac Library - classical music selections September 11th Memorial - "Rolling Requiem" On September 11, 2002, members of the Putnam Chorale met together and sang portions of Mozart's Requiem to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks. They were participating in the "Rolling Requiem" performed by chorale groups across the world as their local time zone reached 8:46 a.m., the time of the attack. As that hour rolled across the country all the chorale groups began to sing Mozart's Requiem, and in Carmel, members of the Putnam Chorale stood in the Veterans Hall singing, thinking of the families who suffered from such great loss, and bringing comfort through music.
